Vision Statement
A vision statement is a word picture of a preferred future. It incorporates our sense of mission and what we believe that God wants to accomplish through us. The short statement below is simple enough to memorize. A more detailed description is also available. If you have not received a copy, stop by the ushers table at the back of the sanctuary on Sunday.
Vision Statement of
First Alliance Church:
We will change our world
by helping people
know God, love life and serve others.

General Fund – End of the Year Challenge
This fund supports the day to day operating needs of our ministry. Please contribute to the glory of God as the calendar year comes to an end. Let us erase the shortfall and start the New Year with a surplus. Let us move ahead to accomplish everything that God has called us to do.

Middle School Christmas Party
Due to the storm last week the Middle School Christmas party has been moved to tonight. The party is “White Elephant” style. So you need to bring a gift that is wrapped and unmarked. The gift should be something from around your house or something that you bought not exceeding $5. No need to sign up, just bring a gift and a friend. This is a great time to bring a friend.
New Years Eve Lock In!
This year we are having our first ever New Years Eve lock in. This of course will take place on New Years Eve. It runs from 10 pm to 10 am the next morning. This is for all teens in 6-12th grade. This is a fun and safe way to ring in the new year. You don’t want to miss it. Parents, this is a great place to bring your teens where you know they will be safe over the holiday, with plenty of time for you to go out and rest up before having to pick them up. There will be a $5 cover charge for this event. This will help cover food, games, and prizes. Please feel free to invite as many friends as you can to this fun packed night! If you have any questions talk to Pastor Dan.
Middle School Ice Skating
On Saturday, January 16th we will be taking the middle schoolers ice skating. We will be going to the Garden Ice House off of Gun Powder road. We will leave at 12:30 pm and return at 3:30 pm. The cost is $15 per person. This includes skate rental. If you have your own skates the price will be cheaper. This should be a great afternoon full of winter fun. If you have any questions please see Pastor Dan.

Giving Receipts
Please stop at the guest services counter after church to pick up your receipt, year to date. Review the records for accuracy, including your current address. This will help us to produce end of the year reports in January.

Missing Anything?
A variety of clothing items have been left at the church and are hanging up on the coat rack in the hallway between the two buildings. Stop by and see what might you yours. Also, if you left any other items at the church, call the church office to see if we have found them: 301-384-6996.

Vision Statement
Copies of our church’s new vision statement were distributed October 18, 2009. The statement reads:
We will change our world
by helping people
know God, love life and serve others.
Knowing God is possible because of the incarnation of Jesus Christ and the reflection of his life in ours. Loving life is the result of being filled by the Spirit of God, nourished by the Word of God and encouraged by the people of God. Serving others is a calling that follows the example and creativity of Christ who made us to do good works. Changing our world is possible because of the change that Jesus can make in us as we submit our lives to him. Changing the world around us is a measured hope of making a difference in the community that God has called us to serve.

Birthday/Anniversary Calendars
As you enjoy the fellowship after church on Sunday, look for the monthly calendars on the wall. Find your birthday and/or anniversary date and write in your name. Notice people who have similar special dates and commit to pray for them.

KIDZSPACE
CAMP CHRISTMAS...final week!
SPARK!, our children's worship service, plays host to Camp Christmas for 3 Sundays in December. Kids will jump into the Christmas story with crafts, games, skits, songs and videos. We will celebrate the amazing arrival of our loving and powerful Savior!
Next Week...December 27th
There will be no Sunday School at 9:30. At the 11:00 hour, children in 1st - 5th grade will be in the main service. Classes will be available for infants to Kindergarteners.
A KIDZSPACE wish...for your family
May the protection and love of God move freely in your home and in your family life throughout each part of the Christmas celebration. May the breath of His Spirit draw you all close to Jesus. May you know the true peace that comes from hearts and lives dedicated completely to Him.

Church Sign Update
After much discussion and prayer, the Leadership Team has decided not to pursue a banner name for the sign at this time. We will proceed, however, with the listing of each church that meets in the building and a tag line or web address. More information to come.

Save the Date!
We’ve moved the Women’s Retreat to spring. But this Retreat is worth waiting for – great content and great venue! Our theme is “Pass the Salt” - we’ll learn about being “salty” women who are change-agents in our world. We’ll be going to the Dunes Manor Hotel in Ocean City, MD on April 23-24 (Friday-Saturday). If you save only $5 per week from now until the March registration deadline, you’ll cover your $120 fee (retreat registration, 4-person room, Saturday breakfast and lunch). More details will be provided with registration package in January. For additional information or questions, contact Rita Schuh at 301-589-8377. |
Giving Option
If you prefer the convenience of making donations online, we encourage you to visit www.1stalliancechurch.com and locate the link to our donation page. Here you will find a simple online process for initiating an automatic series of regular contributions or for making special one-time donations, eliminating the need to frequently write out checks or prepare envelopes.

108 and Counting
This is the number of people who have signed up so far to grow in discipleship. John Wesley once said, “Give me 100 men who hate nothing but sin and love God with all their hearts and I will shake the world for Christ!” Come join us. There is plenty of room. Review the discipleship insert on Sunday and sign up. |
Hospitality Team
We are looking for people to help serve for a variety of fellowship occasions, making coffee, setting tables and offering general kitchen help. Our immediate interest is to find volunteers to prepare and/or clean up Sunday morning coffee once a month. Sign up on the Communication Card.
|
Worship Opportunities
Would you like have a greater role in leading the congregation in worship? Do you like to sing? Are you an instrumentalist? Do have a passion to connect with God and help others to do the same? If so, indicate your interest on the Communication Card and/or see Doug Heim.

Supporting God’s Work
If you haven’t done so before, we invite you to join us as we support the ministry of this church here at home and around the world. All gifts are confidential. The amount of the gift is not as important as the heart of the giver. So give as God leads you.
